just like before

There’s so much difference in the air but not the birds; they still come near. Leaves are starting to appear while petalled flowers shed frosty fear.

And, oH those frogs begin to peep waking from a sleep so deep. Red efts emerge from boggy peat with hopes to not become road meat.

So, what’s this difference referenced here? I’ll tell you if you dare to care; I wish this poem was never born and everyone could leave their home.

Mothers clutch their fledglings close concerned they may all turn to ghosts. Fathers falter with their roles because they fear they’ll lose their homes.

Shops shut tight except for some and those have rules of shopping by one. Masks and gloves are fashionable now but really not they make me frown.

Contact time on objects count; if touched too soon you’ll be wiped out. Washing hands forEver more and remembering to always clean the door (handle).

Families are kept apart leaving many with broken hearts; friends remain alone as well longing for a place to go.

Watching jobless numbers rise causing the stock market’s hopeless demise. Hanging tight remains my plan while others sell whatevers at hand.

Hospitals fill and add more beds for all those people with congestive lungs and aching heads. It’s frighteningly frightening I will not lie hoping that I do not die.

This is no nightmare or grim tale of old; it’s real and happening and scary cold. Nothing lingers under beds because this monster’s an airy dread.

Hating to end it here without giving you something to lighten your fear; I’ll give you this my reader friends, this will pass and when it does, we’ll come together just like it was…before.
